WEDNESDAY MAY 2 2018

We were out of bed at 4:15am and rang for a taxi which got us to Roma St in plenty of time for our departure for Sydney on the XPT at 5:55.  We had plenty of time to watch the sunrise as we left Brisbane.

As we passed Beaudesert and headed towards the Range we saw some balloons in the distance.

It was another long day in the train but all went smoothly.

We passed lake Macquarie in the twilight.

 And we arrived in Gosford relaxed.  A train to Woy Woy arrived very shortly.

The taxi from Woy Woy got us home at 7:30pm in time to watch our favourite show, Young Sheldon.

A couple of days later we unpacked our prized souvenir painting bought in Karumba and sent these pictures to Chris Cash who sold it to us.

TUESDAY MAY 1 2018

We woke early and admired the sunrise across the forest.

The train passed through the Glasshouse Mountains after breakfast.

 
We were a few minutes early at Roma St and got straight on a 444 bus, arriving at Aidan and Peta's place at 9:30am. We spent a pleasant time with Nathan, Molly and Levi and went to bed early as our train leaves at 5:55am tomorrow.

MONDAY APRIL 30 2018

Nice breakfast at the Motel buffet and another slow walk to Cairns Station, where the Spirit of Queensland was waiting for us.  We had two rail beds  next to each other this time and we settled in very comfortably.  We spent some time talking to Reg in the Dining Car and spent the day watching movies.  These pictures are of Hugo and his friend reading a book on films and this is a classic picture from an early French film of the first lunar rocket landing in the eye of the man in the moon.

We had a nice onboard shower and the staff made up our beds.
